Edelweiss, our beloved home on wheels, is a 1990 Barth Regal SE-31J. Barth’s were the luxury motorhomes of their day; all handmade and built like tanks, up until the late 1990’s. The “31” in the model name designats its length of 31 feet, and the SE stands for “Special Edition” which means there were a bunch of add-ons added at the time of manufacture.

When we look at the original Barth brochure, the layout of our Barth isn’t listed as a variation, so we definitely have one that was uniquely customized. We’re still learning about all of the intricacies of Barth coaches, but we can tell you one thing: they provide a great foundation for a remodel!

We purchased Edelweiss, as its 3rd owners, with just over 18,000 miles on the odometer. We were told the first owner purchased it, used it a few times, then let it sit for years before it was purchased by the second owners, who rarely used it for much more than weekend getaways.

Before we started full-timing on the road, we spent the better part of 6 months completely remodeling the inside, as well as making improvements or updates to the outside.
