Longboards and Mother’s Day

Mr. T has been saving up for various “wants” and decided to move “longboard” to the top of the list. I took him out to 2 different places, one in Durham and the other in Raleigh. He had a pretty good idea of what he was looking for, but the salesman in Durham was about as helpful as a sea cucumber. The second place, Vertical Urge, was super helpful and Mr. T decided to take the plunge and buy the board.

He’s really excited and has been practicing a bit where he can on the park road. There are some serious speed bumps so he can’t go too far.

On Sunday, Mother’s Day, we visited a friend from college and his family. His kids are pretty close in age to our kids. Divagirl made another instant friend. We went for a hike at Umstead State Park near their house, searching for the elusive swinging vine. Eventually it was found, but it didn’t winter well and snapped with the first tug. Oh well, the hike was gorgeous through the forest. We picked up some unwanted travelers-gross deer ticks that hitched a ride. They have been removed.

We had a delicious dinner on the grill and were delighted by their oldest daughter’s imagination. Someday we will understand what it means to “smell like drowning”.
