In an attempt to make up for lost time, we pushed through to the Thousand Trails park in southern South Carolina, our 6th state. Normally staying longer someplace wouldn’t be a big deal, but I want to have time to practice for my competition next weekend. As it is, I haven’t skated all week and only three days last week. Jason will also be working out of his office next week.
As for The Oaks at Point South, I can’t complain too much since it only costs us $3 a night, and we were only there for one night, but the bathrooms were creepy and there were a lot of substantial potholes. On the flip side it’s located in a beautiful wooded area but its also very remote with very few conveniences nearby even though it’s only 2 miles from I-95. Because I didn’t plan well before we left Florida (because usually there’s at least a Wal-Mart nearby) we ended up getting Wendy’s for dinner and taking it to a local historic attraction for a picnic.
The Old Sheldon Church ruins were gorgeous! You feel transported back in time. Apparently its popular for weddings and photo shoots. There were 2 photo shoots going on while we were there.
Unfortunately the southern charm seemed to have missed this area of SC since we only managed to run into grumpy people. We aren’t in Georgia anymore :)
