Boondocking in Damascus

We stopped for a few days to visit Jason’s sister Lisa and her family in Damascus Oregon, outside of Portland. It was perfect timing since we were able to celebrate our youngest niece’s third birthday! They live off the beaten path but had plenty of space in their yard so we boondocked with a little power cord run from the garage. Mainly we hung out in their house with them and just slept in Edelweiss.

Divagirl had so much fun with her cousins. Even though Cate had school during the day, that just gave Divagirl more time to get to know Sammie.

West Virginia or Bust

We made it out of Massachusetts just as the rains came and had a nice cool travel day through Rhode Island and Connecticut. It only took 39 minutes to cut through Rhode Island, long enough to ponder the validity of its name since it is not an island nor even a peninsula. In keeping with the theme of New England it should’ve at least been named “New Rhode,” but I digress.

Independence Day in Vermont

We made it to our friend’s house in Vermont despite the rain and flash flood warnings.

We were partially boondocking on their farm; we had a standard 15 amp circuit and access to the house for water and bathrooms. It was mighty hot and humid in Vermont, but we had just enough power to keep the A/C running, which afforded us a nice place to sleep and relax when we needed some downtime :)

Our friends had just returned from vacationing in Peru the day before we arrived, so we did our best to not impose or be underfoot while we stayed.

Kanona Boondocking

Jason drove straight through from NJ to Kanona, NY. Due to a navigational error on my part, we ended up on PA rt 487 which was a really bad place to be with a motorhome! Anyone see the movie RV with Robin Williams? Well that seemed to be how our day was going.

It started poorly with a black tank dumping malfunction that resulted in several trash bags and a shower…Jason prefers not to talk about it. Ever again.
