Columbus Zoo With Friends

We spent the day with our long-time friends Doug and Stacey and their 2 kids. Jason used to work with Doug at Honda. We spent a few hours at the nation’s best zoo, per Wikipedia, enjoying the animal exhibits. We made sure to check out the favorites: the reptiles, kangaroos, elephants and aquarium.

Then we saw all the animals in-between those exhibits…

Normandy Farms Campground

Our stay in the Boston-area will be super short—only a day and a half—but we were fortunate enough to work out dinner plans with a college friend and his lovely wife the first evening we arrived.

During our trip down from Maine, we ran into some horrible storms that forced us to sit off the side of the road for 20 minutes or so before continuing. Along with some lunch and gas delays, we arrived a couple hours later than we had hoped.

Lobsta Chowda Beeya: 10 Days in Maine

Our next stop after Vermont was a week in Boothbay, Maine, where we met up with the Burrell famlily—awesome!—another fulltime family we haven’t seen since April. We  stayed at the Shore Hills Campground and RV Park, which is a nice little resort nestled just outside of Boothbay Harbor.

The first night we found out that the Burrell’s oldest son, who is an actor performing in various plays at a local theatre throughout the summer, was performing in the final show of “Spamalot”—a hilarious play inspired by Monty Python and the Holy Grail. We were offered 2 seats for Heather and I to attend, which we graciously accepted—oh yes!

Summer in Vermont

I think Mr. S has the potential makings of a farm hand. Perhaps next summer he can come back and work the farm for the whole summer! He’s helped catch a pig, collect eggs from the chickens and helped move the herds of cows. Now he just needs to learn how to drive the tractor.

Kelvey got a new puppy the day they returned from Peru, so he’s been with them for nearly a week now. I really do not miss puppyhood. He’s an English Shepard and very cute, but doesn’t do too well in this heat, preferring to hang out on the air grate. Their other dogs are finally warming up to him now, which means active play spurts and barking sessions usually taking place under your chair or on top of your legs. He hasn’t seemed to figure out that he needs to do his business OUTside. Ugh. He also has taken a fancy to every toy, shoe or mitten he can sink his teeth into.

Birthday Weekend

Happy Birthday Kelvey!

She really rocked it with a whole weekend celebration. We were also celebrating her passing the board exam, so she won’t have to study for tests again for another 10 years. Yay!

We’ve been staying on their farm. They raise chickens and pigs and Belted Galloway cows, all for food. We’ve been eating really well :)

The rain, however, didn’t really let up. Everyday we have had some serious thunderstorms. I just hope that when its time to leave it will dry up a smidge so we don’t get stuck in the mud.
